Would you go on vacation by yourself, and if so where would you go?
Submitted by Sean & Stefan.
Last summer I went on my first solo vacation and LOVED it! I went to Portland, OR which was a great town to explore alone. They have a great transportation system so I didn't have to rent a car or really learn my way around the city. ( Its also a great place to get stood up- isn't it Mr. Williamson!!!) But thats a story for another day. Actually its probably not one anyone else would find nearly as amusing as I do, so maybe not. Anyway Portland is great!
I plan to make this escape for one a yearly tradition, although finances are holding me back at the moment. Next on my list though is the South Carolina Low Country. I would love to stay in a cottage on the beach when all the summer tourists are gone. My plans include watching the sun rise with a large cup of coffee, watching the waves crash against the shore with a good book and watching the sun go down with a glass bottle of wine. Although, wouldnt it be nice to stroll hand in hand on the dessert beach and gaze at the stars. Maybe I can find a handsome man to join me for the end of my solo getaway! I want my cake and then I want to eat it too!! ( or be spoon fed by the handsome man)

Do you know any war veterans?
Submitted by Fightin' 6th Marines.
I am honored to know several veterans. My great grandfather and grandfather were veterans and my uncle served in Korea. My father was almost a veteran as he was drafted for Vietnam only several weeks before the war actually ended, although his eye sight probably would have prevented him for going anyway.
There are several current day soldiers that have been on my mind today.
A little over a year ago, I became friends with a soldier serving in the 133rd from Iowa. These soldiers have been deployed for nearly two years now. THAT is such a long deployment. They are currently featured in several 60 minute videos that are available on yahoo. You can check them out HERE if you are interested. There are some amazing and heart wrenching stories included. While I havent kept in touch with this guy I still continue to pray for him and his family daily. I cant imagine the strain that being separated for that lenght of time must be taking on these soldiers and their families. Not to mention that their mission hasn't been an easy one.
I guess the veteran closest to me would have to be Chris. My ex-husband served in Kuwait and then in Iraq while we were married. I have never known anyone more dedicated to the military than that man. Even though we are divorced, I still have the highest level of respect for his service to this country and the sacrifices that he has made.
I have to say that army wives ( well military wives in general) are some of the strongest women I know. And because I know how tough of a job they have, they deserve some props in this post too!!
Regardless of your political views, take a moment to reflect on those that have given their lives to defend our freedom and the families that they have left behind. Also say a prayer for those that are currently serving in our military and their families. Whether you agree with this war or not doesnt change the fact that -simply said- deployment is tough. Tough for the soldiers fighting and tough for those anxiously waiting for their loved ones return back home. Like the Fightin' 6th Marines that suggested this topic!
In your ultimate dream house, what does your favorite room look like?
I would take this room and turn it into a library. I would love to be curled up next to that fire place, reading a good book, sipping a cup of mocha and enjoying that view!!! I thought it cute that Hermoine Granger is playing on the TV in this picture. but I would rather read Harry Potter any day!
I also thought I should include a picture of the deck and hot tub off this room because they make it all the more dreamy.
( If you are interested in staying in my dream home. The first two pictures are from a cabin called Serenity Ridge and the third is from Take my breath away, both owned by Majestic Mountain Cabin Rentals in the Smoky Mountains. HERE) Thought I would give them some free advertising!
InOctober I will get to see this view with my honey!

What, to you, is the first sign of spring? Have you seen it yet?
Submitted by Spy.
Yes, I have!!!
Pictures never do justice for Wisteria. Just like candles and room sprays cant come close to caputring the scent. The front porch of my childhood home had beautiful wisteria vines. Its one of the things I miss the most about that place.
Did you order Girl Scout cookies this year? What kind?

What's one of your favorite quotes?
Submitted by Georgie-boy.
I love quotes, so its hard to pick a favorite. But right now i really like this one.
" When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unkown, Faith is knowing one of two things will happen. There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly."
Which household chores do you most/least enjoy?
Submitted by falcon.kmc.Most Enjoyed: Anything to do with cooking or baking.
Least Enjoyed: Folding or putting away the laundry, or emptying the dishwasher. Perhaps i dont like putting things back where they go. Okay, okay, I admit it. There is no "perhaps" about it.
